Two is one and one is none in IT Network industry
From network stand point since ten years of my experience or being directly involved in many network infrastructure, topology or designed, I found that. Having
alternative solution in IT especially, system and network infrastructure in the network industry if the public internet connection
goes off then the entire office will not have internet, you would trigger the
owner of the company, and it is vividness that 99.9% of our job is relay on
internet such as, email communication, voice communication, video communication
so on.
Therefore as a network engineer my suggesting would be, alternative connection such as backup link or backbone link, which called
failover or loadbalancer. It doesn’t mean that we're saving our job
but rather we are preventing from bad experience that other
people have been faced.
At least having one satellite internet
connection, make sure to get dedicate connection! Because they might ask
you ‘Do you want share or dedicate bandwidth 1:1 or 1:4’
I prefer dedicate due to stability of internet connection, 'ISP' internet service provider 99.9% granted With fiber connection the price is reasonable, faster due to high bandwidth unfortunately not very stable! In network field stabilities
is concern!
So now you have two internet connection means no complain at all, because you have two connection one is active another is
passive or standby. My network scenario
Or design, I would use it for some main purpose such as FTP
or cloud computing. Farther more
If the main link goes off it automatically turns to second
internet connection beside what I have configured such as FTP or cloud
computing.
Note; if your office doesn't have much critical client
or project, go for single connection
Don’t forget that IF WE DON’T CARE OF OUR CLIENTS SOMEONE
ELSE WILL!
